The Primary program is a multi-age three-year cycle that includes children aged three through six. Children experience an academically enriched environment within a well-ordered social community.
The choice of environment and age-range is based on the principle that children in these years learn and develop in a way that is unique to this age. The distinctive characteristic of the Montessori Primary Program is that the classroom encompasses areas of learning and socializing that are designed to foster independence, concentration, self-motivation and a love of learning.
Essential to the emphasis on independence and self-motivation is the fact that the materials in the Primary classroom are accessible to the children. They are free to choose activities appropriate to their level and progress and develop at their own pace.

Children attend the Full Day Program and Kindergarten from 9:00 AM- 2:00 PM. At 12:00 PM, the students will enjoy a home brought lunch with their peers and spend more time socializing.
Kindergarten year in the Montessori environment is full of excitement. During this year, children use the Montessori materials to explore topics such as reading, writing, mathematical calculations, geography, science, and art.
In small groups, children read chapter books aloud and discuss them with their classmates. After lunch, children who are interested will learn to play on the recorder and sing the “sol-fa” based on the Kodaly method. The program will also offer chess club for Triangle Montessori Academy students and children's yoga.

At Triangle Montessori Academy, we believe music is indispensable to a fun and exciting learning process. Music is integrated to the everyday curriculum at circle time by sharing new songs and dances from around the world. Children also have music twice a week with a music specialist. Consistent with the importance we place on superior musical education, our music specialist is an expert in the Kodaly method.
Zoltan Kodaly was a Hungarian composer, educator, and ethnomusicologist. His philosophy of musical education led to a carefully crafted sequential system of teaching. Various pedagogical tools are applied to achieve Kodaly’s vision: that “music belongs to everyone and is necessary for healthy human development”.
Each child will have a recorder to play during music class. Children will have lessons on major composers in world history such as Bach, Beethoven, and Haydn. This musical education will be complemented with lessons on dances from around the world.

Yoga helps children develop better body awareness, self-control, flexibility and coordination.
Playful poses such as Cat, Flower and Airplane-as well as partner poses that can be performed with friends- teach children the basics of Yoga.
With the help of "flash cards" children can develop both cognitive and physical skills, such as mental focus, balance and strength.
As part of our regular class offering, all children will enjoy TMA’s specialty chess unit, developed by our own staff. Children who are interested and who have mastered the chess unit in the classroom will have an opportunity to take private lessons with a specialist once a week.

Physical Education
At Triangle Montessori Academy we are proud to have a separate gym room for our children. We believe physical education should be a part of everyday life in order to develop a healthy body and mind. Positive encouragement, teamwork, good sportsmanship and physical exercise are the keys to developing both self respect and respect for others.
